Adjusting the Volume is a 20 minute piece that was produced as part of the Artistic Blind Dates section of the 2011 Source Theater Festival in Washington DC. In collaboration with visual artist Lee Gainer and classical pianist and composer Haskell Small, Cecilia Cackley created five talking head puppets who commented loudly and comically on slides curated by Gainer and accompanied by music improvised by Small. In the second half of the piece, Cackley animated a plastic bag into a puppet who interacted with Small and his piano. Photographs by Colin Hovde are below.
