We are in the midst of developing a brand new puppetry piece, inspired by the work of Australian illustrator Shaun Tan. Tan has won many accolades for his picture books and illustrations (including the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award for his body of work and an Academy Award for Best Short for his film The Lost Thing) and several of his books have been turned into puppet shows in Australia. We are taking a slightly different approach and plan to build on Tan’s aesthetic and explore themes that are prevalent in his work, by developing our own characters and story.
